Azure Ultra SSD Cost Calculator
WOW! If you haven't heard, during this week's Ignite announcements, Microsoft will begin offering a new line of managed disk "Ultra SSD". Conceptually, this is a disk tier with provisioned performance that you can select based on your needs. Premium SSD had rigid guidelines as pricing tiers - a disk's size dictated its IOPS, MBPS, and of course cost. With Ultra SSD, these fundamentals are now adjustable - with an associated price tag, of course.
However, Microsoft published very vague pricing logic that may seem cheap on the surface but could easily surprise potential subscribers. To make these assessments easier, I threw together a quick calculator based on the prices available at the time I wrote this document.
:::PLEASE::: Be warned! "Preview" pricing from Microsoft is often discounted 50% or more from GA pricing. There is no way of knowing if the current prices are 50% off or perhaps 75% or more from GA pricing. This calculator will tell you what today's pricing will be; plan at your own peril!
